Marcus Rohrer Spirulina is a co-sponsor of Dis-Chem’s Ride for Sight in Boksburg on February 13. An estimated 6000 cyclists will take to the road in this event which raises funds for research into fighting retinal blinding conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa and macular degeneration. In an initiative to boost the research funding, Stan Goetsch, Director of Dis-Chem, has pledged that the Dis-Chem Foundation will match all voluntary additional donations from participants over and above their entry fee for the 2011 event. The funds raised from these special donations will be used to sponsor the Genetic testing of financially disadvantaged people so that they do not miss out on future and imminent treatments and treatment trials.
